Community Based Day Services (A-Street)
A-Street Day Program is a Community Based Day Service (CBDS) where individuals diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder receive Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services in center-based and community-based settings. The program is supported by Licensed Applied Behavior Analysts/Board Certified Behavior Analysts and Behavior Technicians. The team works closely with each individual and their caregivers through a person-centered planning process to identify strengths, preferences, interests, and personal goals, and to develop and implement a customized Treatment Plan based on the individual’s unique needs and current abilities.
The Treatment Plan focuses on teaching functional living skills, leisure skills, social skills, communication skills, and reducing interfering behaviors through the development of socially appropriate replacement behaviors. Using Natural Environment Teaching strategies, individuals learn and practice skills in meaningful, real-world settings, increasing opportunities for skill acquisition, independence, and generalization across home, program, and community environments.
Through person-centered planning, participants are supported in pursuing meaningful experiences that align with their interests and long-term goals. Individuals have opportunities to engage in volunteer experiences and learning-based introductory work-skill activities that promote community inclusion and active participation. These experiences help individuals develop foundational workplace readiness skills such as communication, following directions, task completion, time management, teamwork, problem-solving, and personal responsibility while exploring potential vocational interests in supportive community settings.
The goal of the program is to support each individual in becoming an active participant in their family, home, workplace, and community while promoting greater independence, self-determination, self-advocacy, and quality of life. Services are individualized, goal-oriented, and designed to empower participants to make meaningful choices, build on their strengths, and achieve outcomes that are important to them. Referrals for Community Based Day Services are made through the Massachusetts Department of Developmental Services (DDS).

Autism/Applied Behavioral Services
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a therapy based on the science of learning and behavior. It can improve social, communication, and learning skills through positive reinforcement. The ultimate goal is to support the individual to become an active participant within his or her family, home and community.
At the Edinburg Center, Autism (ABA) Services are provided to adults aged 22 years and older, with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder.
A team consisting of a Licensed Applied Behavior Analyst / Board Certified Behavior Analyst and a Behavior Technician provide services in the home or community. The team works closely with the individual and any caregivers to create and implement a Treatment Plan, based on the person鈥檚 current abilities. The Treatment Plan focuses on teaching socially appropriate behavior including adaptive and communication skills to replace and reduce behaviors that interfere with everyday life. The team assures that strategies used during direct instruction for each individual, are carried over throughout the day with all care providers.
